Namrata Soni is one of the most popular makeup artists in India, having worked on faces like Sonam Kapoor Ahuja, Deepika Padukone, Jacqueline Fernandez etc. She was also the one who fought hard to end an archaic rule by the Cine Artist Association which didn’t allow women to work as makeup artists or hairdressers on Bollywood sets. Then there is her other specialty, bridal makeup. Ahead of her skincare line launch, we caught up with her and she shared her skincare tips for all brides-to-be. Excerpts from the interview:

What is the biggest skincare mistake brides make before their big day?
They start doing facials and cleanups right before their wedding functions are going to start. Most brides are really stressed, so they don’t realize this already aggravates their skin. Instead, get a relaxing massage and don’t incorporate a new routine.

Good skin is paramount for good makeup, what should a bride do to get that?
Start by using a cleanser that suits your skin type, you can cleanse your face with the Simply Nam towel. Use it in the AM with ice water to tighten your pores, followed by a good toner and moisturiser. In the evening, you can cleanse your face, you can use the towel after steaming your face. This will help remove any buildup and you can follow it up with a good eye cream and moisturizer.
What is the best tip you can give brides-to-be?
Start with a good dermatologist six months before your wedding, and start with a good skincare routine. For your bridal makeup, book an artist who understands your needs and likes. And just relax and sit back and enjoy getting ready.
